
J. Arthur Brown received his license as a Certified Public Accountant in the District of Columbia, 1989. He is a member of the District of Columbia Society of Certified Public Accountants and holds a certificate as an Enrolled Agent, which qualifies him to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and, the National Society of Public Accountants (NSPA).
As owner and manager of J. Arthur Brown & Associates, CPA, J. Arthur Brown is responsible for a diverse client base, which includes Corporate Presidents, Chief Operating Officers, non-profit organizations, churches, retail, construction contractors, small businesses and individuals. Consulting and assisting business owners with selecting and setting up their accounting and financial management systems to streamline their business and increase profits is where J. Arthur Brown is most comfortable. Developing a business plan that reflects the owner’s mission and direction for their business infused with sound accounting principles and tax strategies is his staple.
Prior to devoting his efforts to the development of a full time accounting and management advisory services firm, J. Arthur Brown worked in the private sector at the CPA firm of Lucus and Tucker, CPA. He also worked in the public sector at various Governmental Agencies, including the Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Commerce, Office of Minority Business Development Agency, and Office of the Controller.
Robert J. Debnam received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Benjamin Franklin University in 1971 and earned his Masters Degree in Taxation from Southeastern University in 1979. Robert J. Debnam is a Senior Associate with J. Arthur Brown & Associates, CPA. He is responsible for day-to-day management, quality control and select engagement staff supervision.
Robert J. Debnam is an integral part of the J. Arthur Brown & Associates, CPA team. He is a consummate professional and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the firm.
Prior to joining the J. Arthur Brown & Associates, CPA team Robert J. Debnam previous positions were diverse and varied. As Chief Financial Officer, Minority Health Professions Foundation, Silver Spring, MD, Mr. Debnam managed and administered the Foundation's multi-million dollar federal grant portfolio. While assigned as Chief Financial Officer, for Charles Neal, CPA Robert J. Debnam formulated Medicare reimbursements and performed internal audits of the US Department of Health and Human Services. Working as Senior Auditor for the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, in Washington, D. C., Mr. Debnam conducted reviews of privately funded pension plans and assisted in transferring pension assets to federal control.
